OLGA PICASSO is a limited edition lithograph re-created after an original painting from the estate Collection of Marina Picasso, Picasso's grand-daughter. Printed using hand drawn lithographic plates on archival heavy weight Coventry printmaking paper, 100% acid free. Edition was produced in accordance with the Picasso family under the supervision of Marcel Salinas, master chromist who worked closely with Pablo Picasso during his lifetime. Bears the estate approved printed signature of Picasso on lower margin. Lithograph is in excellent condition, never been framed or mounted. Picasso's OLGA PICASSO is a realistic portrait portraying Olga (Khokhlova), a Russian ballet dancer and the first wife of renowned Spanish painter and sculptor Pablo Picasso. Picasso's OLGA PICASSO presents a serious, restrained Olga seated in a domestic environment rendered in calm, neutral colors of light gray, light pink, beige, warm browns, and charcoal black, creating an appealing understated female portrait study. Picasso painted her portrait often, in a realistic manner, on which Olga insisted as she did not like experiments in painting. “I want to recognize my own face”, she said. While in Barcelona, Picasso made Olga meet his mother, who liked the Russian girl and visited many of Olga's dance performances, but once warned her; “My son lives only for himself, no woman could be safe and happy with him”.
